Mixed Root Bunch
$4 each or 3 for $10
Comparable supermarket bunches of specialty roots are uncommon. Individual bunches of beetroot, carrots and radishes typically retail for around $3–5 each.
What it is
Grown organically in Murgon and picked fresh for exceptional flavour and freshness.
A colourful bunch of freshly harvested seasonal root vegetables, which may include carrots, beetroot, Hakurei turnips, salad turnips, watermelon radishes and other seasonal favourites. Every bunch is unique, showcasing the diversity of the garden.
Caring for Your Bunch
To keep your roots fresher for longer, remove the leafy tops as soon as you get home and store them separately.
The tops are delicious too—use them in soups, stir-fries, pesto or simply sauté them with garlic and butter. Have a little taste first to ensure they're to your liking.
If you don't want the tops, feel free to return them to Leroyd Street and we'll happily compost them.
Flavour
A delicious mix of sweet, earthy, peppery and crisp flavours, ranging from buttery-sweet turnips to vibrant watermelon radishes and tender baby carrots.
Best enjoyed
Many of these roots are sweet and tender enough to enjoy raw, allowing their natural flavour and crisp texture to shine.
Perfect for:
- Slicing thinly into fresh salads.
- Peeling ribbons from salad turnips to garnish salads.
- Serving on grazing boards.
- Pickling.
- Steaming or roasting just until tender.
Before You Cook
Wash thoroughly under cool running water before use.
Cooking Tips
⚠️ Fresh root vegetables cook faster than store-bought produce. Check early to avoid overcooking.
Many varieties, including Hakurei turnips, watermelon radishes and young carrots, are delicious raw.
Salad turnips are best enjoyed raw. Their crisp texture and mild flavour are lost with cooking, so try shaving thin ribbons over salads instead.
